Quick Chocolate Buttercream

Creamy, fluffy, and lots of chocolate flavor, my Quick Chocolate Buttercream is the perfect complement to my One Bowl Chocolate Cupcakes recipe! Or try it with your favorite cake recipe!

TIPS + TRICKS

• Be sure to make the butter room temperature before making this recipe. Taking it out of the fridge a few hours before will do the trick. The butter should not be melted.
• The melted chocolate should be slightly cooled before making this recipe. If it is too hot when added to the other ingredients, it will affect the consistency of the buttercream. Stir the melted chocolate to allow it to slightly cool from within.
• I use bittersweet chocolate chips for this recipe, but you could try substituting with dark chocolate if you prefer.
• If you prefer a stiffer buttercream, you can add more confectioner's sugar, one tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency.

1. Using a mixer set on medium-high speed, beat the butter and melted/slightly cooled chocolate together until fluffy.
2. Reduce speed to medium and beat in marshmallow cream.
3. Add in vanilla extract and confectioner's sugar, and increase speed to medium-high and beat, scraping down the sides of the bowl occasionally until smooth and fluffy.
4. Chill for 20 minutes before using.
